I just read an article by Kim Komando in USA Today that was posted earlier today:

Try 8 free tools to work smarter

... These days, more people are using Web-based e-mail. With it, you can retrieve e-mail anywhere. But visiting a site to check e-mail is time-consuming.

You usually must pay to connect to Web mail from programs like Outlook. But ePrompter lets you check your accounts directly from your desktop. EPrompter alerts you to new messages. It supports Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and more ...
( more )

Thanx for the nod, Kim! :)

Very nice. The other applications listed included hyperlinks to their sites which ePrompter's mention did not (looks like an editing error). However it does provide a link at the bottom that gets you to eP in just a few more clicks.

I wonder if this woman's recommendation is worth adding to the home page for the application along with CNET's...is Craig aware of it?

Kim mentioned again June 14th in her weekly newsletter. She placed a link in this one. ;)

Yes, Larry, you can check all of your e-mail accounts in one place. You can use Microsoft Outlook, if you have it. If you don't, it's too expensive just for that feature. Instead, try Thunderbird. Download it from my site. There's also ePrompter, which is a little different. Again, it is free on my site.

Question: I have several Web mail accounts. But I'm tired of visiting all those sites. I'd like to have all of them download messages to my computer. What will I need to make this happen?

Answer: Your best option is a desktop e-mail program. Try Microsoft's Outlook or Mozilla's Thunderbird. However, your e-mail providers may restrict your ability to download e-mail. They may want you to pay for the privilege. A few programs will help you get around this. Try Ypops or MrPostman. If you don't want to install multiple programs, go with ePrompter. It can manage up to 16 e-mail accounts. I have links to all of these at www.komando.com/news.
